Hand Knit Socks 1: Cuff Down

In this 5-part class, participants will knit a single-color woman’s medium (size 7/8) sock to learn classic top-down sock construction including a slip stitch heel flap and turn with gusset shaping. NOTE: Need to knit a smaller or bigger sock? No problem. Julie will help adjust the length for your socks!

This is a slow-paced class designed to understand the anatomy of a handknitted sock, ideal for first time sock knitters. There will be homework between sessions.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the first class to select your yarn. (Needles will be available for purchase during the class, or you may bring your own.)

Dates: Jan 18 & 25, Feb 1, 8 &15 from 1:00 to 3 pm

$85 – cost includes all 5 lessons and one skein of Emma’s yarn Simply Spectacular DK.

• 1 skein Simply Spectacular DK yarn (light color is preferred)
• US 3 (3.25 mm) needles of your choice of knitting in the round:

  • 32” or 40” circular needle (magic loop technique)
  • double pointed needles
  • 9” circular needle
  • 2 x 24” or 16” circular needles

• stitch markers and/or progress keepers
• measuring tape or ruler
• scissors
• tapestry needle
