Flora Daze by Laura Dobratz

Flora Daze was inspired by the gorgeous, top secret, Smalliday set from Emma’s Yarn.

The 2021 Smalliday set is a holiday inspired set of 25 individually wrap custom colors meant to be opened one a day beginning December 1st. Treating yourself to a small-a-day during the holidays! How fun!

The pattern is written for both fingering and dk weight yarns. Please note that the finished measurements are different. The fingering weight version is a large shawl while the dk is a generous scarf.

I used all 25 colors of the Emma’s Yarn sets but have written the pattern to accommodate 24 (or any number) color sets.

Flora Daze is beginner friendly! The simplicity of the stitches allow the beautiful yarn to really shine.

YARN
Fingering weight: C1-C25 Emma’s Yarn Practically Perfect Smalls, 80% superwash merino/ 20% nylon, 80 yards/20g or
C1-C25 Super Silky Smalls, 80% super wash merino/20% silk, 80 yards/20g or
DK weight: C1-C25 Emma’s Yarn Simply Spectacular DK, 75% super wash merino/ 25% nylon, 40 yards/ 20g

NEEDLES/NOTIONS
Fingering weight: US 5 (3.75mm) size needles, or size required for gauge,
DK weight: US 9 (5.50mm) size needles, or size required for gauge
Stitch markers
Darning needle

GAUGE
Gauge is not critical but it can affect amounts of yarn used and finished measurements. I’ve accounted for slightly different gauges in the yarn requirements but if you find yourself running short after two colors then please take time to check and adjust your gauge.

Fingering weight: 19 stitches and 38 rows = 4 inches, blocked in
garter stitch.

DK weight: 14 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches, blocked in garter stitch.

I used approximately 16 grams of each color.

FINSHED MEASUREMENTS
Fingering weight: 84 x 24 inches
DK weight: 18 x 78 inches
