Double knitting is a method of knitting a double-sided fabric with stockinette displayed on both the front and the back. 2 colors are used and by switching colors, pictures can be knitted into the fabric.
The class will take place over 3 sessions on Sunday, January 13, 20, & 27 from 12:30p-2:30p
Session 1: 2 hours – We will knit a small sample using the free pattern, “From My Heart.” Copies will be provided in class. We will do a cast on, double knit a sample consisting of 11 rows/11 stitches, and then we will cast off. This will provide the basics of double knitting. Help will be provided picking out a pattern for a project. An excellent source for a pattern to add to a scarf (such as the one displayed in the shop) is on Ravelry called “double knit scarf charts I” by Kalinumba. There is a charge for this set of patterns: Approximately 3.95 EUR. It includes 10 patterns, 40 stitches each.
Session 2: 2 hours – Using a double knitting pattern of your choice, individual help will be provided for casting on and working the pattern.
Session 3: 1 hour – We will continue on our individual patterns.
